Justin Amash (/əˈmɑːʃ/; born April 18, 1980) is an American attorney and politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 3rd congressional district. First elected to Congress in 2010, Amash previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives representing the 72nd District, which is centered on the city of Kentwood and includes his home in Cascade Township as well as the townships of Caledonia and Gaines. He is chair of the House Liberty Caucus.

Amash is a libertarian Republican. Politico described him as “one of the most conservative members of Congress.”
